LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Captains Cristina Centeno and Maja Gerlyng look to go out victorious when the duo plays in their final home game today at the ARC against Rider. Gameday Central coverage of Senior Day begins at 2 p.m. right here on SienaSaints.com.
Centeno has been one of the most dynamic players in MAAC history. The only active player in the conference with at least 900 points, 400 rebounds, 300 assists, 100 steals and 100 three-pointers in her career, she is one of only 11 players in MAAC history to accomplish that feat.
Gerlyng had a breakout junior season and has been one of the conference's top outside shooting threats the past two seasons. She leads all active Saints with 34 career double figure scoring efforts and 11 games in which she has hit three or more threes.
The duo along with the team's senior managers will be honored in a pregame ceremony at 1:55 p.m.
With all the success they have had at Siena, a win today would go a long way in making sure the seniors and the rest of the Saints position themselves well for a run in the upcoming MAAC Championships.
Winners of five of their last eight, Siena has slowly but surely moved up the MAAC Standings and find themselves tied for fifth with Niagara entering today's action. The Saints are also just a game out of fourth and only two games back of third with three games remaining on the docket.
After posting the best non-conference record of any team in the MAAC, Rider has been plagued by injuries and fallen off considerably. The Broncs had lost 10 straight prior to Friday night's win over Iona.
Siena defeated the Broncs 67-56 a month ago in New Jersey and have dominated the all-time series, winning 28 of 32 meetings since Rider joined the MAAC 14 years ago. The Saints have won nine straight overall against Rider, including seven straight by double digits.
