Saints Suffer Another Hard Luck Loss
If one thing is certain, Siena Women's Basketball games are not for the faint of heart this season. For a third straight game the outcome was decided on the final play of regulation or in overtime and again the Saints came up on the wrong end. Niagara went on a 22-6 run over the final 10:32, defeating Siena 70-62 in overtime at the Gallagher Center.
In the midst of a season long four-game homestand, Siena (9-15, 5-8) is looking to bounce back from consecutive home losses to Marist and Rider. The Saints enter today tied for seventh in the MAAC Standings, but are only a half game back of sixth place Canisius and just two games back of the Broncs and Niagara (12-12, 7-6) for fourth.
Siena has won eight in a row at home over Niagara and is 25-4 all-time in the Capital Region vs. the Purple Eagles. In the first meeting between the schools this year, Niagara rallied from eight down with 5:32 left in regulation to beat the Saints 70-62 in overtime at Monteagle Ridge on Jan. 6.
Gameday Central coverage begins at 1:30 p.m. with Mike Demos and Steve Amedio on the radio pregame show on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint" as well as online at SienaAllAccess.com.
