Team Effort Takes Down MAAC Rival Marist
After forcing Marist to 21 turnovers, their most since November 30, Siena Women's Basketball came away with a 58-53 victory at the Times Union Center on Thursday evening. The Saints have now won four of their last six doubleheaders played at the Times Union Center.

Marist leads the series 34-32 with the Saints entering the game holding a one-game win streak against the Red Foxes. Siena has won three of the last four meeting against Marist. Both the Red Foxes and Saints enter the contest on five-game winning streaks and are battling for second in the league standings behind Quinnipiac. Siena plays their fourth stretch of three-games in a seven-day span and is 7-3 overall during those games. The first time (Nov. 10-15) Siena went 1-2, and the second time (Nov. 29- Dec. 4) Siena went 2-1. In the third span (Jan. 18-22), the Saints went 3-0.

Siena enters the game having just defeated Saint Peter’s 62-59 in overtime on the road. The Saints have now won all three overtime games played this season. Kollyns Scarbrough led all scorers with 22 points, while Joella Gibson tallied a career-high 17 with 10 of her points coming from the free-throw line. Over the last six games, Scarbrough is averaging 20.1 points per game.

Marist comes into the contest having just beat Iona 75-55 at home on Thursday evening. The Red Foxes shot 54.2 percent from the field in the second half to outscore the Gaels 42-28. Alana Gilmer led Marist with 14 points, while Grace Vander Weide added 13 and both Maura Fitzpatrick and Gabi Redden poured in 11 points a piece. Rebekah Hand went 2-2 from the free throw line to extend her consecutive made free-throws to 49; she leads the nation in free-throw percentage.
