LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - For the third time this season, Siena Women's Basketball freshman forward Meghan Donohue has been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week. The Mogadore, Ohio native averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games last week for the Saints.
Donohue's three MAAC Rookie of the Week awards are the most by a Siena freshman since Laura Menty earned the honor six times en route to being named the MAAC Rookie of the Year during the 2004-05 season. Donohue's 188 points scored are also the most in a season by a Siena freshman since Menty scored 391 points during that 2004-05 season.
Against first place Iona Saturday, Donohue dominated inside against arguably the MAAC's premiere frontcourt tandem of Joy Adams and Sabrina Jeridore. She scored a career-high 16 points on 6-10 shooting and added nine rebounds. Donohue contributed nine points, four rebounds and tied a career-best with three steals for the Saints Thursday against Manhattan.
Donohue currently leads all MAAC freshmen in scoring (9.0), rebounding (5.7) and field goal percentage (53.2%).
Donohue and the Saints return to action Thursday at 7 p.m. at the ARC against eight-time defending MAAC Champion Marist.
