Marist Too Much For Saints
Siena's early shooting kept the Saints close for awhile, but in the end the Green and Gold didn't have enough to overcome first place Marist. The six-time defending MAAC Champions capitalized on 21 Siena turnovers, holding a 26-5 edge in points off turnovers in defeating the Saints for a 17th straight time 75-51 Sunday afternoon at the McCann Arena.

Marist (12-6, 7-0) has won 17 in a row over Siena (7-11, 3-4) with the Saints' last win a 56-50 overtime triumph on Dec. 3, 2004 in Poughkeepsie. The Red Foxes have won seven in a row at home in the series during that time, winning by an average of 23.7 points.

But the new look Saints under the leadership of first-year head coach Ali Jaques are poised to turn the tide back in their favor. Siena has won three of its past four games and playing its best basketball of the season.

The two winningest programs in conference play since the MAAC expanded to its 10 current members 15 years ago, Siena and Marist meet for the 55th time with the Saints still holding a 29-25 advantage including a 15-10 mark in Poughkeepsie.

The unanimous preseason selection to repeat as MAAC Champions, Marist has won seven in a row - all in league play. The Red Foxes carry a 33-game conference home winning streak into Monday night's meeting and have won 51 of their past 52 MAAC games overall including conference tournament play.

Gameday Central coverage begins with the radio pregame show with Mike Demos and Steve Amedio at 6:30 p.m. locally on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint" and online at SienaAllAccess.com.
