FAIRFIELD, CONN. - Siena looks to get back on track and even their conference record Monday night when the Saints take on longtime rival Fairfield at 7 p.m. here at Alumni Hall. Gameday Central coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. this evening with the radio pregame show on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint" and online at SienaAllAccess.com.
After winning two straight and playing their best basketball of the season, the Saints (3-9, 1-2) have since dropped two in a row and are in search of a confidence boost tonight.
Siena and Fairfield (10-4, 3-0) has been one of the greatest rivalries in the MAAC over the years with the Stags holding a slim 29-27 all-time advantage. The teams have met in the conference tournament in six of the past seven years as well, with three of those games being decided in overtime and five decided by six points or less.
The Saints are coming off of arguably their most dominant season ever against their rivals, sweeping all three games last season against Fairfield including a 36-33 victory on the Stags' home court in the MAAC Quarterfinals.
But Fairfield has been red hot of late, winning seven of their last eight with their only defeat coming against national power UCONN. The Stags are a perfect 4-0 at Alumni Hall this season and 227-70 (.767) all-time at their primary home court.
Siena has won the past three meetings in Connecticut, although those games were played in Bridgeport. In their last meeting at Alumni Hall, Fairfield earned a decisive 73-47 victory on Jan. 29, 2009.
Mike Demos and Steve Amedio have the call beginning with pregame coverage on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint" at 6:30 p.m. Fans can also tune into the free audio broadcast online at SienaAllAccess.com and watch the game through the Stags' multimedia platform.
