PHILADELPHIA, PENN. - Junior Gunta Basko scored her 1000th point in the first half and went on to explode for 20 of her game-high 26 points in the second half in Siena's 73-65 win over Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon. The Green and Gold won their seventh game in a row and finished the non-conference schedule 5-3.

Basko (Olaine, Latvia/Riga Secondary #3) became the 19th Saint to reach the milestone on a jumper seven minutes into the game. The Latvian reached the mark in 68 career games.

She was saddled with foul trouble the remainder of the first half but made up for it early in the second. The two-time defending MAAC Player of the Week scored 17 points in the first 11 minutes after halftime to give Siena a 12-point lead it would never surrender. She also finished with 10 rebounds and five assists, notching her eighth double-double of the season.

Liene Jansone (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary #45) played her strongest game of the season with 14 points on seven for seven shooting. She added seven boards. Siena dominated the glass, outrebounding Penn 45-27.

The Saints (7-3/2-0 MAAC) led by one at halftime but used a decisive 15-3 run seven minutes into the second half to gain control. The Quakers (3-7) never pulled closer than four the rest of the game.

Siena returns to action Thursday in a first-place showdown with St. Peter's. The game marks the first of 16 straight MAAC games to end the regular season. Tipoff in Jersey City is 7:30 p.m.
