DURHAM, N.H. - Gunta Basko scored a game-high 18 points and Siena College outscored the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team 53-25 in the second half to post a 78-65 win Saturday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium.

Basko scored 16 of her points in the final half to help the Saints rally from a 40-25 halftime deficit. Last year's Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year also finished with 11 rebounds and five assists as Siena improved to 2-3 overall. UNH, which received 16 points from Aubrey Danen (Oconomowoc, Wis.) and 14 from Anna Matthias (Guilford, Conn.) fell to 2-4 on the year.

The Saints recovered from a 27 percent first half shooting performance by hitting 15 of 29 shots, including 6 of 15 from beyond the arc, in the second. UNH, which held as much as a 21-point lead early on, shot just 27 percent in the second after a blistering first half (63 percent). Siena went on a decisive 19-2 run midway through the second half to turn a 55-45 deficit into a 64-57 lead the Saints would never relinquish. Sarah Craft scored 13 of her 15 points after halftime. Erica Anderson added 13 as did Jolene Johnston who scored 13 to go along with 11 rebounds. Senior guard Heidi Plencner (Hampton, N.H.) scored 12 points for the 'Cats while Maren Matthias (Guilford, Conn.) chipped in with nine.

Siena opens the MAAC schedule on the road in a rematch of last year's MAAC Tournament final against Fairfield. Tipoff in the new Arena at Harbor Yard is slated for 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
