ALBANY, N.Y. - Siena raced to leads of 23-6 and 46-16 en route to a comfortable 76-59 victory over Albany Tuesday night at the Pepsi Arena. The win came in the first meeting between the two teams in 20 years and was Siena's first of the season.

Local product Jolene Johnston (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) led all scorers by tying a career-high with 21 points. MAAC Player of the Year Gunta Basko (Olaine, Latvia/Riga Secondary #3) narrowly missed a triple-double with 17 points, 12 rebounds and nine steals. The double-double was Basko's third-straight. Erica Anderson (N. Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) added 17 and tied a career-high with eight assists.

The game was decided early when the Saints (1-3) outscored Albany 23-6 in the first nine minutes of the game. The Green and Gold eventually built the lead to 30 points at 46-16 before the Great Danes (0-3) closed the half with eight straight points.

Albany rallied in the second half but never seriously threatened, pulling to within 11 on two occasions. Jess McGinlay led the Danes with 16 points while Danielle Hutcheson added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Great Danes outshot and outrebounded the Saints but could not overcome 29 turnovers compared to just 10 assists. Siena had 19 assists and 17 turnovers.

The Saints will face another America East foe on Saturday afternoon when they visit New Hampshire. Tipoff in Durham, N.H. is set for 1:00 p.m.
