PITTSBURGH, PA. - Pittsburgh shot 51.9% from the field and forced Siena into 27 turnovers as the Saints fell 75-50 Tuesday afternoon at Fitzgerald Field House. Senior captain Lily Grenci, a native of nearby Mars, Pa., posted her second straight double-double to start the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Siena (1-1) hung tough early, staying within six points at 24-18 with 6:47 remaining in the first half. But Pitt (2-1) opened things up with a 12-1 run and never led by fewer than 13 points the rest of the way.
The Saints shot just 30.5% (18-59) from the field, while the Panthers made 27 of their 52 field goal attempts.
Asia Logan led four Panthers in double figures with 16 points on 6-7 shooting, while Brianna Kiesel added 14 points, six steals and five assists. Ashlee Anderson contributed 13 points on a perfect 6-6 shooting to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists.
Kanika Cummings led Siena's second unit contributing seven of the bench's 24 points.
The Saints return to action Saturday when they travel to Rhode Island for a 5 p.m. tip off.
