ALBANY, N.Y. - Liene Jansone scored 21 points and Gunta Basko posted her 18th double-double to lead Siena past Fairfield 80-62 in the MAAC semifinals Saturday night at the Pepsi Arena. The win puts Siena just one win away from back-to-back conference titles and a return trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Saints will face Saint Peter's, a winner over Manhattan, in the final.

Siena (23-5/16-2 MAAC) went on a 13-2 run early in the game to take a 19-9 lead and the Saints never led by fewer than eight points the rest of the game. Siena shot a season-best 52 percent and held Fairfield (13-16/8-10 MAAC) to 37 percent from the field. The Saints also outrebounded Fairfield by seven.

Basko (Olaine, Latvia/Riga Secondary #3) tallied 17 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals. Erica Anderson (N. Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) added 17 points, six assists and five rebounds. Jansone (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary #45) made seven of nine shots on her way to her 21 points.

Schrene Isidora led the Stags with 18 points while Megan Light added 14. The game marked the second year in a row Siena beat Fairfield in the MAAC Tournament. The Saints knocked off the Stags 70-68 in last year's final.

This year's final will pit Siena versus Saint Peter's. The Saints beat the Peahens twice this season. The game will be a rematch of the 1999 MAAC final which the Peahens won 64-62. Tipoff is set for Sunday at 7:00 p.m. with the winner earning the MAAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
