LOUDONVILLE, NY - After being picked eighth in the MAAC Preseason Poll, Siena Women’s Basketball finished the regular season with a 70-36 dominating victory over Saint Peter’s to finish third in the league. The Saints will play in the MAAC Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 3 at 12 p.m. against the winner of #6 Niagara v. #11 Saint Peter’s.

Sophomore guard Anna Lundquist came off the bench and tallied 17 points, just one point shy of a career-high after connecting on a career-high five three’s for Siena (16-13, 11-7). Kollyns Scarbrough who moved into eighth all-time in rebounds with 714 was one board shy of a double-double adding 11 points. Maddie Sims and Aaliyah Jones added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Haley Dalonzo led Saint Peter’s (4-25, 1-17) with nine points after coming off the bench. Talah Hughes knocked down eight points for the Peacocks, while grabbing seven rebounds.

Following a Senior Day Ceremony to honor Margot Hetzke, Emmanuella Edoka, Aaliyah Jones, Joella Gibson and Kollyns Scarbrough, the Saints started the game strong scoring the first seven points of the game. Siena did not allow a Saint Peter’s field goal until the 3:33 mark of the frame where the Saints led 10-3. Marilena Gerostergiou came off the bench and concluded the opening frame with a three-point play which gave the Saints a 15-5 lead, where the five points allowed tied the fewest by an opponent in any quarter all season.

Siena continued to dominate in the second quarter, holding the Peacocks without a field goal until 5:01 where the Saints led 26-8. Lundquist, who came off the bench, connected on three of her five treys in the second frame including back-to-back from behind the arc to put Siena up 40-10. The Saints led 42-14 at the half following a 27-point second quarter, the most points scored in any quarter by Siena this season.

Saint Peter’s connected on five field goals in the third frame, which was as many as they combined for in the first half to inch towards the Saints lead, but Siena would hold on outscoring the Peacocks 19-11 in the frame to lead 61-25.

While Saint Peter’s outscored the Saints 11-9 in the final frame, Sabrina Piper came off the bench and knocked down the Saints seventh trey of the game, the most since connecting on eight in back-to-back games to start the season. Siena’s 34-point victory is the largest margin of victory this season and marks the 16th straight win against the Peacocks as Siena took down Saint Peter’s 70-36 at the Alumni Recreation Center.

Siena will await the fate of #6-seed Niagara against #11 seeded Saint Peter’s who play on Thursday, March 1 at 1:30 p.m. The winner of that game will take on the Saints in the MAAC Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 3 at 12 p.m.
