Saints Tie All-Time School Record with 19th Straight Win

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Four Siena players scored in double figures as the Saints pulled away from Manhattan 71-53 in front of 2,137 fans at the ARC on Saturday afternoon. The win was Siena's 19th in a row which tied an all-time school record set in the '80-'81 season. Siena also won its 29th straight game against a MAAC opponent.

Siena (19-3/14-0 MAAC) led by seven at halftime before Manhattan (13-10/8-6 MAAC) cut the lead to 47-44 with 9:30 left. Chrissy Loeliger (Springfield, Penn./Villa Maria) responded, scoring five straight points to spark a 14-3 run over the next four minutes that put the game out of reach.

The Saints shot 46 percent while holding Manhattan to 37 percent shooting. Siena also made nine of 24 (.375) three-point attempts.

Gunta Basko (Olaine, Latvia/Riga Secondary #3) led the way with 22 points and 16 rebounds--her 15th double-double of the season. Liene Jansone (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary #45) added 19 points and seven boards. Mary McKissack (Detroit, Mich./Communications and Arts) scored 10 points and Loeliger had 10 points and six assists.

Rosalee Mason led the visitors with 19 points and 10 rebounds which was her league-leading 18th double-double. No other Lady Jasper scored in double figures.

Siena goes for the longest winning streak in school history next Saturday at Loyola. The Saints try to make it 20 in a row in Baltimore in a 2 o'clock tip. Siena then travels to meet Manhattan again on the 18th at 7:00 p.m.
