ALBANY, N.Y. - Liene Jansone scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Siena raced to an early lead and cruised past Fairfield 94-85 Thursday night at the Pepsi Arena. The win was Siena's 18th in a row, the longest streak since Siena joined Division I. Siena also extended its unbeaten streak against MAAC opponents to 28 games.

Siena (18-3/13-0 MAAC) broke the game open with a 17-2 run midway through the first half. Siena shot 56 percent from the field in taking a 47-33 lead into the locker room at halftime. Fairfield (11-12/7-7 MAAC) never pulled closer than seven in the second half. Siena shot a season-best 52 percent from the field and tied a season-high with 27 assists.

Jansone (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary #45) posted her fourth double-double of the season. Gunta Basko (Olaine, Latvia/Riga Secondary #3) added 20 points and eight rebounds. Mary McKissack (Detroit, Mich./Communications and Arts) added 17 points while Chrissy Loeliger (Springfield, Penn./Villa Maria) dished out a career-high 10 assists.

Fairfield had four players in double figures, led by Megan Light's 19 points. Marybeth Chartier added 18 points and six assists and Schrene Isidora had 17 points.

Siena's 18-game winning streak eclipses the Saints' 17-game streak in the '97-'98 season. The Saints won 19 straight games in the '80-'81 season before Siena became Division I.

The Saints try to tie that mark on Saturday when they host Manhattan. Tipoff in the ARC is 3:00 p.m.
