ALBANY, N.Y. - Manhattan shot 55% in the second half and 48.8% for the game as the Jaspers defeated Siena Women's Basketball 62-55 at the Times Union Center. Kanika Cummings scored 13 points for Siena which has lost eight straight.
Allison Skrec tallied 14 points and five assists for Manhattan (5-15, 4-7) which maintained between a six and 12-point lead for the final 18 and a half minutes of the game. Siena (6-14, 1-10) shot just 31.7% from the field including 4-22 from three in struggling to put together a sustained run.
Making her return appearance to the starting lineup, Cummings swiped a career-high four steals as the Saints scored 20 points off 23 Jaspers turnovers. Meghan Donohue added nine points and three assists for the Saints while Kelsey Booth (eight points, nine rebounds) and Brianna Logan (eight points, three assists), made solid contributions off the bench.
Manhattan received 26 points from its bench including a career-high 10 points and eight rebounds from Kylla Champagne in snapping a five-game losing streak in the series.
Siena, which outrebounded Manhattan 56-30 in winning the first meeting between the teams by 24 points three weeks ago, was out-rebounded 36-34. The Jaspers entered the game ranked second to last nationally in rebound margin.
Siena continues its season long four-game homestand Saturday against first place Iona at 1 p.m. at the ARC. The Gaels have won 17 in a row and are a perfect 11-0 in the MAAC.
