Women's Hoops Fall to Manhattan, 65-60

Riverdale, NY-- The Siena College women's basketball team lost to the Lady Jaspers of Manhattan College (8-11, 4-6 MAAC) on Sunday afternoon. The loss dropped them to 8-10 overall and 5-4 in conference play and snaps a five game winning streak.

At intermission the Saints held a modest seven point lead (31-24), but the Jaspers were able to tie the game at 40 off a turnover by tri-captain Lauren Surber; sophomore guard Katelyn Dooley responded with a strong finish in the paint to put the Saints up by two, both teams exchanged shots until Caitlin Flood made a lay-up to tie the contest again at 51 with 3:25 left to battle.

Dooley and Whitney Cave both finished with 14 points each and Laura Menty had 10 points and nine rebounds. Surber added nine points and a game high three steals, while Rachel Michalek rounded out the Saints scoring with nine points.

The Saints held a 15-11 assist and 7 to 6 steal advantage over the Jaspers who were with out senior Donnette Reed. Serra Sangar led all scorers with 16 points and eight boards.

Siena returns home to take on Niagara on Saturday February 5. Tip-off begins at 3:00 PM.
