Liene Jansone had a game-high 21 points to lead Siena to a 76-55 victory over Dartmouth in their final non-conference match-up of the regular season Tuesday night at Leede Arena.
With the win the Saints improve to 10-4 overall while the loss drops the Big Green to 5-8.
After falling behind by 12 in the first three minutes of the second half, Dartmouth chipped away.
The Big Green got within three, 44-41, on a 3-pointer by Katie Skelly. However, Mary McKissack answered on the next possession to extend the lead to six, 47-41. After a layup by Katherine Hanks trimmed the deficit to 47-43 with 12:52 left, the Saints put the game away with a 15-5 run to make the score, 62-48, with 7:56 remaining.
Dartmouth couldn't get back in the game, as the Big Green went scoreless over the next five minutes.
Jansone also had nine rebounds on the night and is one point shy of 1,000 career points. Gunta Basko managed a double-double, netting 14 points while dishing out 10 assists. She added eight rebounds. Nathalie Marchino also scored in double-figures for the Saints, recording 13 points.
Hanks, who became just the third player in Dartmouth history to eclipse 1,600 career points, connected on seven-of-16 shooting from the field and grabbed eight rebounds. Classmate Katie Skelly added 11 points and five boards.
The Big Green was plagued by 21 turnovers and 40.7 percent shooting from the floor. Siena finished with a shot percentage of 46.9 and went 42.9 percent from three-point range. Both teams grabbed 34 rebounds.
The Saints will next host Loyola College on Saturday, January 18. Game-time is set for 1:00 p.m.
