Four Siena players scored in double figures as the Saints defeated conference foe Rider University, 67-57, tonight at the Alumni Recreation Center in Loudonville, N.Y. With the win the Saints have now claimed four-straight victories and sit at 7-6 on the season and 3-1 in MAAC play. The Broncs fell to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in league play with the loss.

Siena led most of the first half, a half in which neither team led by more than six points. The Saints took the lead for good at the 10-minute mark on a jumper by Jolene Johnston and entered the locker room with a 36-31 advantage.

Rider rifled off six three-point shots in the first stanza to help keep pace with the Saints who put down four treys of their own, including three from Michelle Blot.

The Green and Gold never relinquished their lead in the second, claiming their biggest advantage at 12 points just four minutes into play on a Johnston layup. Rider closed to within one with 6:34 left on the clock, but the Saints outscored the Broncs 11-2 to take a ten-point lead with just two minutes to go. Siena maintained that margin down the stretch for the 67-57 win.

Johnston had a career day, pulling in a career-high 16 rebounds while matching a career-best 22 points. Blot also managed a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Liene Jansone (19 points) and Nathalie Marchino (11 points) additionally put up double digits, narrowly missing out on double doubles of their own as Jansone grabbed eight boards and Marchino pulled in nine caroms, one shy of a triple-double as she dished out 10 assists on the night.

The Saints won the battle of the boards, 58-30, while the Broncs shot a 36.4 percent from the floor compared to Siena's 36 percent.

Becky Hower led Rider with 18 points while Leanne Moore and Katie Hall also scored in double figures with 16 and 11, respectively.
