Siena freshman Mike Amico was named MAAC Men's Tennis co-Rookie of the Year today. Amico played top singles for the Saints all season, ending with a team-best seven singles wins, including a 3-3 MAAC mark. Amico and sophomore Jarrett Siwiec were also one of three pairings selected to the MAAC's No. 1 Doubles Team.

Amico (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) shares the award with Jeremy Quiroz from Niagara, who he defeated 6-1 and 6-3 on April 11.

Amico also posted some strong regional wins this season, topping Hartford ace Aneil Bhalla 7-6 and 7-6, Fordham No. 1 Dallas Harting 7-5 and 6-0 and Colgate's top man Phil Bernasek 6-4 and 6-2. In addition to defeating Quiroz, Amico also bested Rider's Will Haight and Loyola's Keyan Sanai 6-4 and 7-6 in conference action.

In doubles play, Amico and Siwiec (Saylorsbugh, Pa.) finished the year 7-8 and won four of their last five matches. In the MAAAC Tournament, the duo reversed an 8-5 loss to Saint Peter's top team of Alex and Chris Frakes to post a convincing 8-4 score. Their best win of the year may have been an exciting 9-8 decision over Holy Cross' top team in non-league action.
