Sacred Heart swept the doubles competition and took four of six singles matches to earn a 5-2 win over Siena Monday evening. Ed Roessler and Mike Aliotta picked up the two singles victories for the Saints at second and fourth singles.
Steven George paced Sacred Heart's win with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at top singles over Nick Julia. Roessler defeated Jeff Bowers 6-4, 6-7 and 10-3 to take second singles, but Ryan Douragh defeated Dustin Temple 6-3 and 6-1 at third singles to give the Pioneers the lead back. Aliotta's defeated Pat Douragh 6-3, 0-6 and 10-8 in a hotly contested fourth singles match, but Sacred Heart would win the final two singles matches to claim the match. Alex Kauterig defeated Sean Kiernan 6-3 and 6-1 at fifth singles and Kevin Guipicipietro topped J.P. Ciejka 7-6, 1-6 and 11-9 to close out the singles competition.
In doubles play, Bowers and Pat Douragh defeated Julia and Temple at top doubles 8-5, George and Ryan Douragh topped Roessler and Kiernan 8-4 and Kauterig and Kevin Teague teamed with Aliotta and Jon Hoyler for an 8-2 win at third doubles.
