Binghamton Blanks Men's Tennis in Season Opener

Akshay Rao coasted to a 6-1 and 6-1 win at top singles over Siena sophomore Brian Onofry setting the stage for a convincing 7-0 win in the Siena men's tennis season opener in Loudonville Tuesday afternoon. Brad Davidoff held off a strong effort by the Saints' John Michalisin in the day's most competitive match, 7-5 and 6-4. In other action, Steve Spencer topped Ed Roessler 6-2 and 6-3, Brian O'Connor blanked AJ Eames in straight sets, Jordan Steinberg bested Dustin Temple 6-1 and 6-1 and Ryan Rosenthal cruised to a 6-0 and 6-1 victory over JP Ciejka. Binghamton won all three doubles matches 8-4, 8-3 and 8-1 respectively. The Saints return to action at home against Quinnipiac on Thursday at 3 p.m.
