The Siena College men's tennis team suffered a 4-3 setback at the hands of Fairfield University in the quarterfinal's of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows this afternoon. The Saints entered the Tournament as the conference's #6 seed, while Fairfield was seeded third.
The Saints started the match by winning two of three doubles' games to capture the doubles point. Freshman Brian Onofry and junior Eric Reuter defeated Christian Bangert and Kevin Nyarady at second doubles and Shawn Kiernan teamed with Dustin Temple in an 8-4 victory at third doubles to secure the point for Siena.
The Stags rallied with victories in four of the six single's matches to advance. Josh Magarik and Reuter were the only two Siena players to pick up victories at fourth and sixth singles respectively.
