ALBANY, N.Y. - Lone senior Jace Koretz picked up the winning point to push the Saints over Niagara 5-2 for their season finale. This marked the fifth overall win for the Saints, the most since the 2012-13 season.
In doubles, Matt Bellino and Alessandro Saglia started off with a strong lead on doubles one. It was a hard fought battle but they would ultimately fall 7-5. Niagara had already taken the doubles victories on court two and three to clinch the doubles point.
Cameron L. Kirkwood came out strong on court one during singles play but Felipe Fuentes took the point 6-4, 6-1. After the doubles play, Saglia did not want to lose the singles point. He fought hard on court two and put the Saints back in the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win on singles two. Geovanny Mendoza fell 6-0 in the first set but came back strong and tied the match 2-2 with a 6-1,6-1 win on court three.
Matt Bellino was the next Saint to take a singles victory. On court four, Bellino got it done in straight sets winning 6-3, 6-1. Jace Koretz and Diego Lebron both fought hard to push the Saints out in front once and for all. Koretz fell in the first set, but after a grueling matchup he took down Chris Grossi 6-4, 6-4 in the next two sets to seal the victory for Siena. Lebron, like Koretz fell in the first set, but was able to come back strong and take the next two 6-4, 7-5 for Siena to take a 5-2 win.
The Saints end their season with a 3-4 conference record and finish in fifth overall, just missing the MAAC Tournament which takes the top-four teams.
