To open up a three-match Pennsylvania road trip the Siena Men’s Tennis team fell 6-1 to Bucknell. Muhammad Raza Sawani was the sole Saint to pick up a point.
Alessandro Saglia and Matt Bellino fell 6-2 at doubles one, while Cameron L. Kirkwood and Geovanny Mendoza put up a battle at doubles three before falling 6-4. The Bison had clinched the doubles point before taking court one 6-3 over Raza Sawani and Guillermo Lopez Torres.
Bucknell jumped ahead 2-0 with a win at singles three in straight sets. Raza Sawani put the Saints right in the mix in a three-set victory at singles four. Kirkwood battled at singles five and after winning the first set 6-2, he fell in the following two as Bucknell led 3-1. Bellino forced a tiebreaking third set at singles six, but fell in the tiebreaker 10-6 to give Bison the victory. Singles one and two for Bucknell won 8-1 and 8-6, respectively.
The Saints will take on Lafayette on Saturday, March 3 at 4 p.m.
