Siena Men’s Tennis dropped a 5-2 match to Sacred Heart on Saturday evening. The Saints took the doubles point and one singles point in the match.
“The men have had some tough luck this season with several injuries including today where we have had to have guys playing up most of the season,” said head coach Jeff Osborn. “I am so happy to get a three-week break for them with no matches to get people healthy.”
In doubles, Siena lost court three quickly, but Guillermo Lopez Torres and Muhammad Raza Sawani won on court one 7-5 to leave it all up to court two. Matt Bellino and Alessandro Saglia put up a battle and came away with the victory 7-5 to clinch the doubles point and put Siena up 1-0.
Sacred Heart was able to take five of six singles courts to secure their victory. Sawani took the win in three sets on court three 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Both Bellino and Torres fought hard bringing it to three sets, but would not be able to come away with the wins.
Siena will take some time off before traveling to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to take on Bucknell on Friday, March 2 at 2 p.m.
