Centemero's Balancing Act

July 27, 2017

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - When a student athlete commits to playing a sport while pursuing their college degree it comes with a price, time. Having to balance classes and their sport is a challenge every student athlete faces. Rising men's soccer senior Tommaso Centemero is trying to balance a summer internship with Tranquilli Financial Advisor while playing soccer for the Jersey Express.

Centemero's price of time comes with another price. Family. Centemero's family is currently in Brazil. He was born in Italy and moved to Brazil at the age of 7. For the past two summers, he has opted to stay in the United States instead of going home so he could continue playing soccer at a level similar to DI and to gain work experience. Last year, he was able to get home for a week before Siena's preseason. However, this year Centemero will wait until Christmas. "I decided to postpone it to Christmas since this is a big summer for me and I wanted to focus on preparing myself as much as possible for my last college season and to gain work experience that will be indispensable in the future," Centemero noted.
