Central Connecticut State University dominated the tempo of today's game, defeating Siena by a score of 3-0 at Siena Field in Loudonville, N.Y. The non-league loss drops the Saints to 4-8-1overall while the Blue Devils improve to 7-2-2 on the season.
Caleb Neves scored the only goal the Blue Devils would need six minutes into the game on a slick centering pass from Rohan Smith. Central Connecticut spent the remainder of the first half applying pressure on the Siena defense and keeper Patrick Henry. However, Henry was up to the challenge turning away five shots as the score remained 1-0 heading into the intermission.
Leading 1-0 the Blue Devils netted two goals at the midway point of the second half to put the game out of reach for the Saints. The first tally came on a breakaway goal from Jordan Holder. Two minutes later Smith found the net yet again on an unassisted score to provide for the final margin.
Henry recorded six saves for the Saints before being replaced by Ryan Jordan who had two stops in 25 minutes of play. Andrew Sierman had two saves for CCSU while his replacement, Dan Ricci, had one save in 20 minutes of play.
The Saints return to action this Friday as they entertain conference foe Fairfield. Game-time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
