ALBANY, N.Y. - The Great Danes recorded its fourth victory in five chances with a 3-1 triumph over Siena at Varsity Field on Saturday afternoon. Albany's record improves to 5-3 while Siena drops to 0-4-1.
Vadim Ivanyushchenko's left-foot blast sailed over Saints' keeper Jonathan Hicks' to put UA on the board at 6:19 and give them an early 1-0 lead. Albany was
awarded a penalty shot when Hicks knocked down Lucas Machado, resulting in Greg Chevalier converting the PK and a two-goal advantage for the Great Danes. The goal is also his team-leading fifth of the season.
Siena's Christian Crescitelli pulled the Saints within one as he took a Joe Vitale pass and put it in the back of the net at 38:40 making the score 2-1.
Albany regained its two-goal lead at 66:37 when Steven Procknal one-timed a Ousmane Toure pass into the Siena goal. Trevor Serraro recorded 10 saves in nabbing his fourth victory of the year while Hicks deflected five shots away from the goal.
Siena returns home to Loudonville to face Vermont on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
