Men's Soccer Loses Opener 3-1

NEW BRITAIN, CONN. - The Siena men's soccer team opened the season with a 3-1 loss Sunday afternoon at Central Connecticut State.

Siena (0-1) took an early lead when Paul Ciovacco connected off a pass from John Witkiewicz in the 22nd minute. However, Kasheim Outlaw answered to tie the game in the 35th minute.

Fahad Al-Batrani and Jay Wanat scored goals in the second half for Central Connecticut (3-0) to put the game away.

With the goal today, Ciovacco moved into sixth place on Siena's all-time scoring list with 46 career points.

Ryan Jordan made one save for the Saints in almost 70 minutes of action. Jonathan Hicks made two saves for the Saints in relief of Jordan.

Siena takes nine days off before the home opener against Binghamton on September 17th.
