Assistant Coach

Marjan Maksuti brings considerable coaching and playing experience as he enters his fifth season on the Siena men's soccer staff in 2003. At Siena, Maksuti works with Curto on all aspects of the Saints' program, specializing in teaching fundamentals and player development.

Maksuti is a prominent figure in the Capital Region soccer community. He is a player and assistant coach for the New York Capital District Shockers and also serves as the coach of the National Indoor Champion Alley Cat Under-15 youth team. Maksuti has been involved with the Alley Cat program since 1996. In addition, Maksuti is the director of his own soccer training camp. Three years ago, he also coached at Fulton Montgomery Community College.

Before becoming involved with the Alley Cats, he was a player and a coach for the New York Hota Barvarian Soccer Club of the N.P.S.L. from 1986 to 1995. He led them to the finals of the Amateur Cup in four consecutive years, including the last two as a team captain. He also played in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League, winning five championships and being named an all-star nine times from 1984 to 1994.

Maksuti played his college ball at Fulton-Montgomery Community College where his team was ranked first in the nation in 1980 and 1981.

During his career, Maksuti has played against world-class competition, including the European Champions Werder Breimen of Germany, Millonarios of Columbia, U.S. National Team, Hounuras National Team, N.A.S.L. All Star Team and the Washington Diplomats. He has played a myriad of stars like the New York Cosmos' Mark Liveric, Tony Donlic and Boris Bandov and Roman National Team players Chris Vranceanu and Marius Chiugarin.

Maksuti lives in Delmar with his wife Maureen and their four children: Anton, 13, twins Kristina and Marjana, 11 and Kristjan, 9.
