LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Head men's lacrosse coach Brian Brecht announced the commitment of seven student-athletes to National Letters of Intent confirming their decision to attend Siena beginning next fall. The Saints welcome Chris Roth, a 5'9" attackman, Patrick Daley, a 6'1" midfielder, Chris D'Alberti a 5'10" midfielder, Jack Lang, a 5'9" defenseman, Derek Favara, a 6'0" defenseman, Phillip Dumont, a 5'10" defenseman and Frank Auletti, a 5'9" goalkeeper to the program after completing their paperwork during the NCAA early signing period.

"It gives me great pleasure to welcome these seven student-athletes to the Siena lacrosse family," stated Brecht. "Our team goals are to improve on the recent success we have had on the field and to be positive members throughout the campus community. The quality of these student-athletes will without a doubt help us accomplish that in the near future."

Roth, a product from East Northport, N.Y., is a two year starter on attack at Northport High School. Last season, he was a Section XI All-Division I Team selection after posting 26 goals and 17 assists as a junior. This past summer, Roth participated in the prestigious Top 205 Lacrosse Camp All-Star game. Roth also brings his great athleticism to the hardwood where he serves as the team captain and is a two year starter at point guard on Northport's basketball team.

"Chris is a natural quarterback with the ball in his stick," states Brecht. "He has a nose for the goal and sees the field very well. His good footwork, stick skills and solid feel for the game make him a welcomed addition to our program."

Daley, a native of Bedford, N.H., is a four year starter at Bishop Guertin High School. In his first three years with the program, Daley connected on 73 goals and 41 assists playing the midfield. For his efforts he was named First Team All-State at the conclusion of his junior season, and Second Team All-State as a sophomore. Daley has helped guide Bishop Guertin to the state championship game on three occasions, earning the title in 2005. Daley is a multi-sport athlete who also excels in football playing both running back and linebacker. This fall he was named to the Second Team All-State and helped his squad to the state title game.

"Pat is a force between the lines," announced Brecht. "He brings a great athletic presence to our program with his size and power. As we look to raise the bar on the field, Pat has the ability to be a difference maker."

D'Alberti, a teammate of Roth at Northport High School, connected on 27 goals and 16 assists last season earning himself All-Division I and All-County honors. D'Alberti is a two year starter in both lacrosse and soccer at Northport. He helped lead the soccer program to the League II Division Championship in 2006.

"Chris creates instant offense with the ball in his stick," said Brecht. "His quickness, explosive dodging skills and uncanny ability to find the back of the net makes him very difficult to defend. We are excited with the impact Chris will make here at Siena."

Lang, a two year starter from Hicksville High School, is a force on the defensive end. Over his two seasons at Hicksville, Lang has swiped 48 groundballs while posting three goals and an assist. At the conclusion of his junior year, Lang earned All-County honors and was named team captain for this spring. Lang is also a two year starter and team captain on the football team where he plays tight end and inside linebacker. This past fall he earned All-Conference honors and was named the team's Defensive MVP.

"Jack is a tough competitor and is a very skilled ball handler," Brecht noted. "He is very slick with the ball in his stick in the clearing game. Jack will be a welcomed addition to the program down low on the close defense, and has the versatility to play the pole position."

Favara, a product of Newfields, N.H., is a three year defensive starter at Exeter High School. Over the past two seasons, Favara helped lead Exeter to the state semifinals, while anchoring a defensive unit that harbored the lowest goals against average in the state. Favara has started the past three seasons at center on Exeter's hockey team. He was also a member of the New Hampshire Monarchs club hockey team that won the 2006 state championship.

""Derek is a strong, athletic defender on the corners," Brecht confirmed. "He has great footwork and adds a presence on the inside. "Derek plays the ball well, possesses slick stick skills and is solid in clearing situations. He will be an asset to our program."

Dumont, a three year starting defender at Belmont High School, carries 181 groundballs, 15 goals and 16 assists into his senior season. At the conclusion of his junior year, Dumont earned All-League honors and was named the team's Most Valuable Defensive Player. Dumont also serves as captain of Belmont's football team. This fall he tallied over 1,200 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns serving as the squad's starting running back and return man. He was named an All-League performer and the team's Most Outstanding Offensive Player for his efforts. Dumont was also selected the Boston Herald `Star of the Week' on four occasions. The multi-sport athlete also excels in Track and Field.

"Phil brings a lot of speed in the open field to our program," said Brecht. "He does a tremendous job getting the ball off the ground and pushing it up field. His ability to play the pole and close position will make him a threat in the transition game."

Auletti, a native of Deer Park, N.Y., is a four year starter in goal at St. John the Baptist. He carries 567 career saves, an 8.07 goals against average and .621 save percentage into his senior campaign. Auletti earned All-League honors and was named the NSCHSAA Goaltender of the Year in 2006. Auletti is a member of the National Honor Society and has been an All-Academic Team honoree in each of the last three years.

"Frank is a very skilled goalie that provides a strong presence between the pipes," Brecht stated. "His confidence in making big saves, ability to handle the ball and superb clearing skills will make him a welcomed addition to our program."

The Saints open the 2008 campaign on Feb. 16 for its home opener with Presbyterian. Siena College will play host to the 2008 MAAC Championship on May . . 4 at its state-of-the-art turf facility.
