LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Men's Lacrosse Head Coach John Svec has announced the 2017 Men's Lacrosse Schedule. The 14-game slate consists of five home contests and three games against teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament last year.
The Saints open their 53rd varsity season at the #5/5 Syracuse on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Orange finished the 2016 season with a 10-4 overall record and made it to the NCAA Quarterfinals where they fell to NCAA Runners-Up Maryland. Siena will then play Hobart on Feb. 18 at a neutral site in Victor, New York. The Statesmen are the reigning NEC Tournament Champions and made an NCAA Tournament appearance last year. Siena will make a trip down to Charlottesville, Virginia to face the ACC opponent Virginia on Feb. 21.
Siena will face UMass Lowell (Feb. 25) before making their home debut against St. John's on Mar. 4. The home opener is set for 1 p.m. The Saints will remain at Siena Turf Field and host Binghamton at 3 p.m. on Mar. 7.
Siena will hit the road for a three-game road trip which is highlighted by the MAAC opener on Mar. 25 against Monmouth. The Saints face Bryant (Mar. 14) who fell in the NEC Semifinals to Hobart, followed by a matchup with Colgate (Mar. 18).
Once the Saints return back to the Capital Region they will take on Detroit on Apr. 1 for a Military Appreciation Day. Continuing the homestand on Apr. 8 with Alumni Day against Manhattan. After traveling to face Canisius (Apr. 15), Siena returns home for Senior Day on Apr. 21 against 2016 MAAC Tournament Champions and NCAA Tournament participant Quinnipiac. The Saints will face Marist on Apr. 29 for the final contest of the regular season.
The MAAC Tournament will take place at the MAAC Regular Season Champions home field and will take place from May 5 - May 7.
The Saints return 82 percent of their scoring from last spring in addition to 16 newcomers.
