LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The NCAA Division I Administration Cabinet has appointed Siena Lacrosse Head Coach John Svec to the Men's Lacrosse Rules Committee. Svec's appointment is effective September 1st.
"I'm really honored to be selected and to be a part of a group that has such an impact on the game," said Svec. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to learn from my fellow coaches who currently serve and have helped form what we do in our collegiate game, while being able to develop myself as a coach and gain a deeper understanding of what we do."
The NCAA governance structure consists of legislative bodies that are comprised of volunteers from member schools that manage a wide range of topics including sports rules, championships, health and safety and matters impacting student athlete opportunities in athletics.
"The MAAC membership has been active in NCAA committee service since the league was formed," notes MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. "Involvement in NCAA governance and sport committees both serves the needs of the NCAA for member administrators and coaches to provide guidance and expertise, while advancing the experience level of the volunteers in a wide range of important subjects."
Svec recently completed his third year as Siena's men's lacrosse head coach. A two-time Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year (2012, 2014), he guided the Saints to the program's third MAAC Championship this spring. Svec has posted a 30-20 (.600) overall record including an impressive 16-2 (.889) mark in MAAC play and has led the Saints to the MAAC Championship game in each of his first three years as well as a pair of regular season titles (2012, 2014).
