Brent Herbst to Play in North/South All-Star Game

Siena men's lacrosse goalie Brent Herbst '10 has been selected to play in the 67th annual USILA (United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association) North/South all-star game on Friday, May 28 at Goucher College in Towson, Md. at 5:30 p.m. The game features 60 of the top seniors in the nation and kicks off the Final Four weekend.

Tickets are available on site for $5 each on game day only.

Herbst, one of four goalies named to a team, joins Tony Asterino '81 as the only Siena player to be invited to the North/South game. He will represent the North team.

Herbst (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) had a 7.89 GAA and a .594 save percentage in 17 games this past season. He had a 12-4 record and led the Saints to their second consecutive undefeated regular season MAAC championship. Herbst won MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and earned MAAC First Team honors for the first time in his career.

Herbst was named All-American Honorable Mention in 2009 after he led Siena to its first MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. He was named a 2010 Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse and to the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List. He was a 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award finalist.

The first North/South College all-star game was played in 1940 at Municipal Stadium in Baltimore, Md. Sixty-six total games have been played with interruptions occurring only in 1944 and 1945.
