LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Senior men's lacrosse goalie Brent Herbst captured his fifth MAAC Defensive Player of the Week award Monday afternoon, the most of any player at any position in the league. Herbst had a stunning 2.70 goals-against average and stopped an amazing 81.5% of the shots on goal as he led Siena to two wins this week and the team's second straight undefeated regular season MAAC championship.

Herbst (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK) allowed two goals and had eight saves in a 4-2 win at Canisius on Wednesday. It was Siena's lowest combined score for a single game in recorded program history (45 years). On Saturday, Herbst made 14 saves in a 12-5 win over Manhattan and allowed just three goals before he was relieved with nine minutes left and the game in hand.

The No. 1 seeded Saints (11-4, 8-0) face No. 4 Marist (8-6, 5-3) in the MAAC Tournament semifinals on Friday evening in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
