Saints Slip Past Marist in MAAC Opener
Red-shirt senior captain Kyle Curry netted a hat trick and junior Conor Prunty scored the game's final and decisive goal with 9:12 remaining as Siena Lacrosse hung on to beat Marist 9-8 in the conference opener for both teams at Siena Turf Field.

Siena (10-5) makes its sixth straight MAAC Championship Game Appearance following a 14-11 win in the semifinals over fourth seeded Canisius Thursday. The Saints are now 8-4 all-time in the MAAC Tournament and won conference championships in both 2009 and 2011.

Thursday's win was the Saints' 10th of the year, marking the seventh time in the past eight seasons in which the program achieved a double-digit win total. Siena, which had accomplished that feat just twice in the previous 43 seasons, has won 86 games since the start of the 2007 season which is the ninth highest win total in all of Division I.

Marist (6-8) scored four goals in the last 3:54 to rally past defending MAAC Champion Detroit 11-9 in their semifinal matchup Thursday night. The win snapped a five-game postseason losing streak for the Red Foxes dating back to the program's only MAAC Championship in 2005.

Siena leads the all-time series with their I-87 rivals 20-14 with the Saints' 20 wins marking the program's most against any school. Siena has won nine of the past 10 meetings including five of six in Poughkeepsie. The Saints won the regular season meeting between the squads 9-8 in Loudonville on Mar. 15.

The Red Foxes are just 3-8 all-time in the MAAC Tournament but all three wins have come in Poughkeepsie. Both of their previous conference tournament home losses have come at the hands of the Saints.

Saturday's game will be the Saints' NCAA-leading 11th true road game this spring. Siena's six true road wins are tied for the most in the nation.

The winner of Saturday's game will receive the MAAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The field of 18, which includes two play-in-games, will be revealed on ESPNU Sunday at 9 p.m.
