LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Lacrosse picked up two final MAAC Weekly honors Monday for the last week of the regular season. Bryan Neufeld was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week while Casey Dowd earned his first MAAC Rookie of the Week honors. In 11 weeks during the regular season, the Saints earned at least one of three MAAC weekly awards nine times.
Neufeld earns his second straight weekly honor and conference-leading fourth offensive player of the week of the season. In two games last week, he totaled 10 points on three goals and seven assists and currently ranks second in the nation in scoring.
On Tuesday at UAlbany, Neufeld posted three points in the process becoming the MAAC's all-time leading scorer. On Saturday at Manhattan, he finished with seven points helping the Saints finish with an undefeated MAAC Regular Season record for the third time in the past four years.
Dowd had another phenomenal week at the faceoff X for the Saints, winning 24 faceoffs including 54.5% of his draws, picked up 17 groundballs and also scored three goals.
Against UAlbany he won 16 faceoffs, picked up 11 groundballs and recorded his first career multi-goal game. He followed that up with another strong performance Saturday, winning eight faceoffs, picking up six groundballs and scoring yet another goal from his faceoff position in a win over the Jaspers.
Siena returns to action Friday when the top-seeded Saints take on No. 4 seed and tournament host Marist at 7:30 p.m. in the MAAC Semifinals in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
