LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Lacrosse red-shirt sophomore Richie Hurley has been named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. The Setauket, N.Y. native amassed 12 points in a pair of wins last week for the Saints.
Hurley scored eight goals and dished out four assists last week as the Saints upset 10th ranked UAlbany and cruised past VMI. He scored on eight of the 10 shots he took and added three groundballs.
On Tuesday the attackman tied for a game-high with four points, leading the Saints to the program's first-ever win over a top-10 program. In the regular season finale Saturday, Hurley scored on all seven shots he took and finished with a career-high eight points. He also tallied a pair of man-up goals and just the squad's second man-down goal of the season.
Hurley, who has tallied a point in all 15 games this season, enters the MAAC Tournament as the Saints' leading scorer with 45 points. Hurley and the third seeded Saints face No. 2 seed Jacksonville in semifinal action Friday at 8 p.m. in Buffalo.
