Siena (5-3, 2-0) concludes its season long four-game homestand today marking the program's only home games this season. The Saints bookend the homestand with a pair of five-game road trips to both begin and end the regular season.
Today also marks the Saints' Senior Day. Siena has seven true seniors on its roster along with four, five-year players and two red-shirt juniors who are both in their fourth seasons with the program. Siena's four-year players have to date won 37 games including the program's second and most recent MAAC Championship as freshmen in 2011 and the MAAC Regular Season Championship as sophomores in 2012.
Siena has won 36 of its past 39 MAAC Regular Season games overall including 10 in a row at home. Today they face a Canisius (4-4, 1-1) team in a rematch of the 2012 MAAC Championship won by the Golden Griffins.
Picked to finish tied for fourth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, Canisius is coming off its biggest win in program history. The Golden Griffins posted their first-ever win over a nationally ranked opponent Tuesday just minutes away from Loudonville, upsetting 13th ranked UAlbany 14-10.
Canisius leads the all-time series with the Saints 18-7. However, Siena has won five of the past six meetings including a dominant 16-6 victory in Buffalo last April.
Tickets to Siena Lacrosse home games are just $5 and FREE for students who show their valid Siena College ID. Tickets can be purchased day of the game at Siena Turf Field and for group sales opportunities contact Joe LaVare at email@example.com or by phone at (518) 487-2237.
