Neufeld, Morr Lead Siena Rally Past Stony Brook
Sometimes a hot goalie and a big-time scorer is enough to win in lacrosse. On an unseasonably warm afternoon in the Capital Region, Siena's top two players could not have been any hotter. Tom Morr stood tall between the pipes and Bryan Neufeld was the centerpiece of an offense which scored the final five goals of the game as the Saints rallied for a 12-11 win over Stony Brook in the home opener.
Daidone has formed a close relationship with Siena Lacrosse junior Bryan Anderson
, himself a native of Bayport whose mother is a teacher at Marco's school. Marco, a big Siena Lacrosse fan who is no longer able to play lacrosse due to his illness, will be on the Saints' sideline when they battle the Seawolves today.
Since first meeting Marco last year, the Saints have helped raise funds for him and his battle against osteosarcoma. Marco will also join the team in the lockerroom and the Saints will be wearing camouflage bracelets in his honor that say: For Marco - Hope and Inspiration.
With their honorary teammate with them on the field, the Saints (1-3) will look to play inspired for one of their biggest fans. Siena defeated the eventual America East Champions 12-11 in a wild affair in Loudonville.
Stony Brook (3-2) is coming off back-to-back Big East wins over St. John's and Rutgers and enters today's matchup amongst teams also receiving votes in this week's Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
