Feb. 11, 2013
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Lacrosse sophomore midfielder Conor Prunty and senior goalie Matt Sharp took home the MAAC's first weekly honors of the 2013 season Monday. Prunty was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Sharp earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Prunty and Sharp each posted career-best efforts in the Saints' season opener Friday at perennial national power and fourth ranked Johns Hopkins.
Prunty scored a career-high four goals against the Blue Jays including a man-up tally. A native of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., Prunty was remarkably efficient in scoring on all four of his shots on goal and in only taking five shots total.
A native of Winchester, Mass., Sharp excelled in his first collegiate start after having only logged 10 career minutes prior to Friday. He made a whopping 20 saves, stopping 57.1% of the shots he faced while also added a pair of groundballs.
Prunty, Sharp and the Saints return to action Saturday for their home opener against Hobart. Face-off is set for 2:30 p.m. from Siena Turf Field.
