Marist Defeats Men's Lacrosse, 13-9

Josh Ben-Eliyahu netted five goals to lift Marist to a 13-9 victory over Siena College in MAAC men's lacrosse action this evening at Leonidoff Field in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. With the loss the Saints fall to 1-13 overall and 1-7 in the MAAC while the Red Foxes finish the regular season 3-12 and 3-5 in conference play.

Siena kicked-off the scoring as Matt Walsh scored the first of three goals at the 11:31 mark. Marist answered with a pair of goals to take the 2-1 lead before Wolpert added another for a 2-2 tie after one period of play. Marist broke out in the second, going on a 5-0 run to take a 7-3 advantage with 6:57 left in the half. The Saints finally found the back of the net at the 1:07 mark and both teams tallied one more goal before time expired for a 8-4 halftime score in favor of the Red Foxes.

Both teams scored five goals in the final half of play and the Red Foxes walked away with the 13-9 victory.

Walsh and Peter Green led the Saints scoring three goals each. Walsh also had two assists on the evening. Eric Morrissey, Chris Padden and Paul Wolpert each managed one goal.

In addition to Ben-Eliyahu, Brian Diele and Billy Duerr managed multiple-goal outings, scoring three and two, respectively.

Siena keeper John Bamford made 12 saves in the net for the Saints, while Marist goalie Bobby Gross had 13 stops for the Red Foxes.

The Saints will return to action this Monday for their final game of the season as they host Holy Cross on Senior Day.
