The Siena men's lacrosse team fell to the defending MAAC Champion Manhattan College Jaspers, 12-3 in West Point, N.Y. yesterday. With the loss the Saints fall to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Manhattan scored the first four goals of the evening before Siena got on the board at the 4:27 mark in the first quarter on a tally by Chris Padden. Matt Walsh fed Dan Wolpert who found the back of the net with 1:22 left on the clock to cut the Jasper lead to just two going into the second stanza. Twelve minutes elapsed in the second before Manhattan netted a goal to make the score 5-2. The Saints answered on a goal by Peter Green with 30 seconds left and the two teams went into halftime with a 5-3 Jasper lead.
Siena's goal in the final seconds of the first half would be their last as Manhattan poured in seven second-half goals while holding the Saints scoreless to take the 12-3 victory.
Siena keeper John Bamford made 12 saves in the cage for the Saints.
The Green and Gold return to action this Saturday, April 12 as they travel to Mount St. Mary's for another MAAC match-up.
