Siena Men’s Lacrosse struck first but Monmouth would take the conference win 17-9 in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Robertson recorded his sixth hat trick of the season.
Bryce Wasserman led all scorers as he recorded a game-high five goals and dished out one assist for Monmouth (5-3, 2-0 MAAC). Tyler Keen scored three goals for the Hawks.
Chris Robertson recorded his sixth hat trick of the season with three goals for the Saints (0-7, 0-1 MAAC). Jon-Michael Tokar recorded two goals, while Nick Matzelevich picked up with six ground balls.
Siena got off to a fast start and recorded the first four goals, two of those coming from man-up opportunities. Robertson recorded one of those man-up goals as he leads the nation in man-up goals (6). Monmouth would strike back in the first quarter and the Saints would lead 4-2 after one.
The Hawks took the lead 5-4 after taking putting up three goals to start the second quarter. Jordan Barlow would tie up the game 5-5 with just under six minutes remaining in the second stanza. Monmouth would lead 8-5 at the half.
Siena would put up one goal in the third quarter, but Monmouth recorded three of their own to take an 11-6 lead heading into the final 15 minutes. The Hawks would outscore the Saints 6-3 in the final stanza, including a man-down goal scored by Robertson. Monmouth would take the victory 17-9.
The Saints return back to the Capital District to host MAAC opponent Detroit Mercy on Saturday, Apr. 1. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
