Second Half Surge Not Enough To Push Saints Past Bryant

Ten points from Tucker James with five goals and five assists helped propel NR/RV Bryant over Siena Men’s Lacrosse 18-13. The Saints recorded nine of their 13 goals in the second half.

Besides scoring five goals and dishing out five assists, James picked up three ground balls for Bryant (4-4). Ryan Sharpe scored four goals, while six other Bulldogs recorded a goal in the victory. Kenny Massa picked up a game-high 16 ground balls.

Chris Robertson recorded his fifth hat-trick of the season with three goals, while he also dished out one assist for the Saints (0-7). Jordan Barlow notched his first hat-trick of the season, while he picked up a team-high three ground balls.

Bryant got off to a quick start taking a 7-1 lead after one quarter played. Tim Cousin had the only goal for the Saints. The Bulldogs outscored Siena 4-3 in the second quarter to take an 11-4 lead at the half.

The Saints came out of halftime with a fire and outscored the Bulldogs 8-3. After exchanging two goals a piece to start the quarter, the Saints recorded four unanswered goals until Tom Kennedy gave Bryant a 14-10 lead. Keenan Cook and Barlow recorded goals to end the quarter as the Saints trailed Bryant 14-12 heading into the final stanza. Bryant recorded four goals in the fourth quarter to take an 18-12 lead. Robertson then recorded his fifth hat-trick of the season with 35 seconds left in the game and Siena fell 18-13.

Senior defensemen Ryan Ghaderi picked up three ground balls and caused three turnovers for Siena. Aaron Lewis picked up five saves in the cage.



The Saints remain on the road as they travel to Hamilton, New York to take on Colgate on Saturday, Mar. 18. Faceoff is set for 2 p.m.
