Cofrin comes to Loudonville from South Windsor High School in Connecticut where he served as assistant varsity and head junior varsity lacrosse coach. In his first season at South Windsor, he led his team to a second round State Tournament appearance.
Cofrin spent the summer of 2006 with the New England Development Program. In this role, he worked with elite youth lacrosse players in the New England region. In this capacity he was responsible for both coaching and administrative duties.
"I am very excited to have Shawn join the staff here at Siena College," said head lacrosse coach Brian Brecht. "The Siena lacrosse program has made a lot of strides both on the field and recruiting in recent years. Shawn will be a great asset in helping mentor the student-athletes in our program. Adding Shawn to our staff will help us raise the bar in order to meet the goals we have for the Siena lacrosse program."
Cofrin was a four year starter at Springfield College where he tallied 97 career points. He was a member of the 2002 ECAC Championship team, and made NCAA Tournament appearances in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Cofrin was a double major at Springfield, earning degrees in both Psychology and Criminal Justice.
Cofrin is a graduate of perennial powerhouse Pinkerton Academy in New Hampshire. As a four year varsity starter, Pinkerton tallied a 79-4 overall record. As a sophomore, junior and senior, Cofrin led his team to a New Hampshire state championship. In his senior season he earned All State honors.
