LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Men’s Golf program is set to make history Tuesday when the Saints host their first-ever home match. Siena will battle sister school St. Bonaventure for the inaugural Murray Cup at neighboring Schuyler Meadows Club located adjacent to the Siena College campus. Tee time is set for 9:30 a.m.
“We’re excited and looking forward to the first-ever Murray Cup,” said head coach Steven Jensen. “I want to thank John Murray from Siena and Ed Murray from St. Bonaventure for putting this friendly match together.”
The Murray Cup is set for 18 holes and will be scored as a hybrid stroke play and match play. Each pairing will be playing for two possible points. One point will be awarded to the player who shoots the lowest individual score for the round, and the other point will be awarded to the player who wins the most holes in their individual matchup.
Tuesday’s competition will serve as somewhat of a rematch between the two teams, who completed play earlier today at Binghamton’s Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational at The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, New York. The Bonnies tied Lehigh for the team title, while the Saints finished 27 strokes off the pace overall for the 36-hole event.
Located at 17 Schuyler Meadows Club Road in Loudonville, Schuyler Meadows was designed by Devereux Emmet and first opened in 1927.
