Siena shot a 610 to win the twelfth annual Don Mershon Classic on October 10-11 at Indian Valley Country Club in Talford, Pa. Under blustery conditions, golfers fought the elements and the course on the challenging par-72 layout. The Saints won the event by seven strokes over St. Francis (Pa.) and Rider. Host Lehigh finished fourth.
Individually, the Saint were led by the play of Robby Bigley, who shot a 150 overall (75-75) to finish in a tie for third place. Teammates Bryan Bigley and Jeremy Melchoir finished in a 10th place tie with a 153. Other Saints competing in the event were Brad Myatt (79-75-154), Allen Parker (82-80-162). Rounding out play, the Saints shot a tournament low 302 on the final day of play.
"This is a tournament we tied last year," Head Coach Tom Wronowski said. We played great and it was very gratifying to win a tournament that we out right won."
The Saints continue fall competition at the Hofstra Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 14.
