Saints Stand Sixth at Rain Soaked Connecticut Cup

Siena Men’s Golf stands sixth through the First Round of play at the Ninth Annual Connecticut Cup at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Connecticut. Second Round action was halted due to weather, and play is scheduled to resume Tuesday morning with the conclusion of the Second and Third Rounds with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Tournament host UCONN collectively shot a team score of -4 to lead top challenger Cornell through the first 18 holes of play. Siena is within striking distance at just 13 shots off the pace, and is only one stroke behind both Central Connecticut and Lafayette which are currently tied for fourth. The Saints bested fellow MAAC competitors Fairfield and Rider by six strokes each through the First Round of action.

Juniors Michael Christifulli and Jack Bellardini pace Siena after each carded a First Round score of 73. Christifulli recorded three birdies while Bellardini added a pair including one on the par three 15th hole.
