Men's Golf 11th After Day One in Cornell Invitational

After 18 holes at the Cornell Invitational, the Siena men's golf team currently stands at 11th place in the 13 team field. Originally round one was supposed to consist of 36 holes, but the weather delayed start time and the course was reduced to 18.
Senior David Gushee, who finished sixth in the tournament last year, completed his round with a five over par and is currently tied for 23rd. His teammate Jim Sullivan also finished in the top 50 finishing his 18 holes with a 79, good for 40th overall. Louis Walsh and Riley McGraw narrowly missed ranking in the top 50, both shooting an 81 and going into the clubhouse 51st overall.
The Saints shot a 317 overall, and is currently chasing tournament leader St. Bonaventure. After round one the Invitational's overall individual leader is Zack Bosse of Cornell, who is the only player to end the day under par.
Siena is currently 16 shots behind MAAC foe Canisius, but is leading other conference member Rider by two strokes. The Invitational will conclude tomorrow with the first tee time scheduled for 8:00 a.m.
